What is Cyber Essentials?
Cyber Essentials is a government-backed certification scheme that helps organizations protect their data from cyber attacks:
- Purpose: To help organizations of any size protect against common cyber attacks
- Benefits: Reassure customers that IT is secure, prevent attacks, and demonstrate that the organization takes security seriously
- Technical controls: The scheme is centered around five technical control areas:
- Boundary firewalls and internet gateways
- Secure configuration
- Access control
- Malware protection
- Patch management
